All Stars Cricket has arrived this summer! Based on a similar style format successfully used in Australia to inspire youngsters aged between 5-8 years old to enjoy all things cricket, its arrival was heralded by the ECB, County Cricket boards and endorsements from leading national and international cricketers during the spring time.

Like many clubs, we signed up…. knowing that this is the way forward to develop enthusiasm for the game of cricket, but slightly nervous of further time commitments on already busy volunteers and coaches. Having now come to the end of the 8 week stint, we have to say, ” We Love It”. In actual fact, we loved it from week 1.
From the Activator training, to the online support, to the pre-prepared programme of activities to follow, it has been a total winner! We even kept our numbers to a level that, should wet weather prevail, we could cope within the club-house, but have been blessed by an unprecedented run of sunny Friday evenings !

The children have been a joy, highly enthused also by the kit that they receive when signing up : backpack, bat, ball, named T Shirt, cap and drink bottle….. ready and raring to go each week. We’ve even had a little army of our older juniors, turning up “slightly earlier” each week for their training that followed, and joining in with the youngsters to help!

We’ve had a visit from the All Stars Mascot, and the chance in a few weeks time to go to Ageas Bowl on T20 night and be part of an All Stars Parade in the interval…..

Whats not to love ? …… and we love it so much that some of our All Stars are carrying on through the holidays….

Well done ECB and All Stars Cricket, brilliant concept …… bring on Year 2 !
