After a wash-out on 29th July postponed the originally scheduled New Forest Junior Cricket Cup Finals Day, Bashley was pleased to host 2 of the re-scheduled finals on Sunday 2nd September at the BCG in glorious sun-shine.
Bashley U11s were first up against a very strong Totton & Eling side, who had also claimed the league title. Batting first, Totton & Eling set Bashley a target of 107 to chase. Bashley started strongly, but a flurry of wickets fell in the middle making it look as if all was lost. The final batters dug in though to reach a very respectable 87 by the 16th over, and runners up to the cup
Bashley U16s were up next against OTs & Romsey, and having already clinched the league title, were looking for ” The Double”. Winning the toss, Bashley opted to field first, and demonstrated a superb display of bowling with wickets from Dan Hart ( 2 for 7 from 3 overs), Sam Presland ( 2 for 14 from 3 overs), and Alex Turner ( 3 for 7 from 3 overs), OTs & Romsey were All Out for 36 in 10 overs
In reply, Bashley Openers James Turner and Jack Harris took just 3.4 overs to reach the required target, for an early finish and a double celebration at the end of a fabulous season for this squad
