Bashley (Rydal) II 215 for 8
OT’s & Romsey 195 for 7

Skipper Patrick Lewis won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first on a dry looking Romsey sports ground surface. The home attack showed their lack of practice and bowled a succession of wides early on to get the score moving nicely. When Lewis was bowled for 17 at 63 for 3 the extras already totalled 36. Saif Achakzai (17) added 56 with Simon Watkins who after a season off showed his class and held the innings together. Neil Taylor (17) added a further 48 with Watkins who made a fine 76 including 9 fours and 3 sixes. With 52 extras added the final score of 215 was deemed to be above par.

OT’s started in positive fashion despite some tight bowling from the new ball attack of Sam Stroud and debutant Ben Fletcher who dismissed the dangerous Bothwell Chapungu for 21. Tom Harris and Ethan Baker (1 for 33) , who dismissed Rhys Wathen for 52 , also bowled tidily to put the home side behind the rate. Watkins (1 for 33) and Taylor (1 for 47) managed to keep the scoring in check and when the impressive Fletcher (4 for 48) returned to the attack to bowl Dhariwal for 68 the chase petered out to enable the visitors to secure a 20 run win in their first game in the hastily arranged 40 over cup competition due to the coronavirus pandemic.
