The Bashley Broncos indoor sides have made a perfect start to the 2018/2019 season winning all 6 of their games.

Bashley Broncos A started the season by beating Poole Town A. They won the game by an impressive 105 runs with captain Jack Ransom scoring the first 50 of the season. Brad Currie (3-18) and Michael Porter (2-11) took the wickets to restrict Poole to 41 all out.

Their second game was against Hinton Admiral A and Bashley posted a respectable 147 thanks to retirements from Tom Jacques (41*), Phil Morris (36*) and Jack Ransom (26*). Hinton finished their 12 overs on 90-4 with Jake Lilley picking up 2 wickets.

Our B team continued the success with victories over two very strong sides. In the first game, they managed to scrape past a strong Ellingham side (which included both Alex and James Turner) by the narrowest margin, a 1 wicket win. Arno Hattingh (41*) and Patrick Holly (33) both retired to ensure we chased down Ellinghams 149-3.

The B teams second win came against local rivals Sway A. Ryan Taylor (25*), Simon Morris (30*) and George Pardoe (39) all retired to post 145 from our 12 overs. Even though the Bashley bowling attack gave away 60 extras, they held their nerve to bowl out Sway 9 runs short of their victory target.

The performance of the season so far goes to the C teams batting line up in their second game against Hinton Admiral B. All 6 of Bashley’s batters retired in a massive scorer of 223-1 with the only wicket falling being a runout from the last ball of the innings. Tom Saunders (50*), Piers Scott (42), Jack Harris (44*), Sam Presland (25*) and Dan Hart (25*) were expertly led by stand in skipper Mike O’Sullivan (27*) in what was one of the best batting displays shown by a Bashley indoor side. Hinton managed to get to 146-3 from their 12 overs.

This victory followed an opening game win against Ellingham B. This match was far closer. Bashley C batted first and posted 143 thanks to Sam Presland (25*), Jack Harris (42) and Tom O’Sullivan 26 all retiring. Ellingham fell 12 runs short trying to chase this down.

We hope the success of our indoor teams continues. If anyone has not been involved in our indoor games and would like to be, please contact Jack Ransom, Sam Scott or Jack Griffiths.
