A big thank you to Sean Lilley for once again organising this year’s end of season Presentation Evening.
2009 Season Summary
2009 was a generally successful and certainly enjoyable season for our five senior teams. The loss of several senior players from 2008 meant we were always going to struggle with selection.
The firsts in the elite Southern Electric Premier gold division and under new captain Andy Neal finished with a creditable record of seven wins, five losses and four draws. In the latter part of the season we were deprived of the services of Max Waller who was selected regularly for Somerset including the 20/20 finals day. Max is now in India with Somerset in the Champions League 20/20 tournament.
The seconds led by Sean Lilley and thirds under Graham Pardey both flirted with promotion but ended up just short in 6th and 5th places respectively.
Special praise must go to the fourth and fifth teams and captains Geoff Bettle, Richard King and Steve Ransom. Despite often having to field extremely young
sides in the end both teams comfortably maintained
their league status.
At the end of the season we bade a fond farewell to
Perth bound Gavin Bailiff who signed off in style
with 96 not out and 3 for 25.
We thank him for all his sterling efforts for the club
and wish him and his family every success.

GROUND DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
1. DEVELOPMENT PLAN
We have planning permission for an extension to the main clubhouse but the ECB won’t support us financially in this.
We are therefore looking at the possibility of constructing a new clubhouse on the other side of the square where the old nets are situated. This would be a joint undertaking with New Milton Table Tennis Club and would be dependent on financial backing from the ECB and other grants.
An open forum meeting has been arranged with New Milton Table Tennis Club and other interested parties for 7.30pm at Bashley Clubhouse on Thursday 22nd October 2009 to discuss these proposals.
2. FENCES AND BOUNDARIES
We have successfully negotiated an extension to our perimeter boundaries on both pitches. We are therefore removing hedges, posts and trees adjoining both grounds and erecting new boundaries.
COME AND SEE THE WORK UNDERTAKEN AND HELP US TO CARRY THIS ON.
A WORK PARTY HAS BEEN ARRANGED FOR SUNDAY 18th OCTOBER AT 10.00AM.
3. MAIN SQUARE
Considerable work and expenditure is being undertaken to maintain this.
We are still in urgent need of a Groundsman.
Many thanks to John Neal for his unstinting work on the ground throughout the season.
CLUBMARK
WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REACCREDITED WITH CLUMARK STATUS.
Many thanks to Rob Ford, Sam Gunnell, Maggie Grierson and Richard King for all their work on behalf of the club in this undertaking.
