SUPER SATURDAY 3

All Five teams win again for the third time in SUPER JUNE! The first team beat Alton by six wickets. Seconds beat US Pompey by seven wickets with Ben Nolan-Stone hitting 74 from 34 balls with only 15 dot balls and an incredible run of 14 successive fours and sixes. The thirds continue to march on undefeated with a run of 22 successive wins and the fourth and fifth teams winning in the last over of their games to cap a third SUPER SATURDAY this year.

SUPER SATURDAY 2

The first team win again against fellow strugglers Andover at the BCG.Spin twins Max Waller (3 for 40) and Glyn Treagus (3 for 28) restrict the visitors to just 161.Neil Thurgood (35),Andy Sexton (35) and Chris Jones with 48 steer the side to a three wicket victory.The seconds leap to third in the table with 26 run at a very wet Privett Park,Gosport.Having been inserted only Ross Grierson (30) and extras made significant contributions in a score of 123.This was too many for the home side as Mike West ,with a club best 5 for 25 and John Whiting (3 for 35) skittle the home side for just 97.

The 4ths did their bit by beating top of table West Moors with a great all round performance. Richard King (42), Geoff Bettle (38) and Sam Scott (38 no) helped them to 201-7 on "the rug". A total they defended comfortably, in the end, with a fine all round fielding display, a league best 4-14 from Tom O'Sullivan, four catches by Greg Jones and another sharp performance behind the stumps from Guy Clifford.

The firsts lose by three wickets at Bournemouth with only Andy Sexton (39) and Glyn Treagus (32) passing thirty as they post 155.Kevin Nash with 5 for 39 bowled superbly to reduce the home side to 90 for 6 but it was not enough as the home side recovered to win.Shaun Lilley (64) continued his rich vein of form and together with Phil Morris' league best 60 saw the 2nd team reach 210 at home to Trojans.Ben Nolan-Stone (3 for 30) and Mike West (3 for 50) reduced the visitors to 90 for 7 but a late recovery nearly saw them home until a run out leaves them just 8 runs short. A superb 98 from Ian Britton, backed up by a league best 39 not out from Sam Scott saw the 4ths post 240-5 at Picket Post against Ellingham 2. John Marsh then blew away the top order with 4-30. Ellingham recovered from the depths of 30-5 to finish on 182-9.

The ones are beaten by 7 runs in a low scoring affair at home against Totton & Eling.Having dismissed the visitors for just 131 (Max Waller 3 for 9) a win was on the cards but once the top order collapsed to 30 for 5 only Neil Thurgood (33) and Gavin Bailiff with a superb 64 made a telling contribution in another disappointing loss.The 2nd team continue their fine start with an empahtic 169 run win at Fair Oak.Ben Nolan-Stone with a boundary strewn 83,Shaun Lilley (61) and Neil Taylor (41) power the side to 267 and then Jason Eede picks up 5 for 34 as the hosts are shot out for 98.The club reach the area semi-final of the National KO with an easy win at South Wilts.Chris Jones stars again with the bat compiling a classy 77,supported by Andy Sexton (46) and Neil Thurgood (42) in a total of 187 for 5.The bowling is spot on as barely a bad ball is bowled by anyone and the home side are shot out for just 96 with Jake Lilley,Kevin Nash,Andy Neal and Max Waller all grabbing a brace.

For the 4ths Will Gunnell (6-35) and Sam Scott (3-39) bowl out Paultons 3 for just 116. Skipper Richard King (59*) and Greg Jones (42) make sure of a comfortable win.

SUPER SATURDAY

The firsts finally get a win at fellow strugglers St.Cross.Andy Sexton,showing a welcome return to form,top scores with 57 and Chris Jones' 34 contibute to a total of 158.This proves far too many for the home side as Matt King (3 for 9),Kevin Nash(2 for 10) and Andy Neal(2 for 14) rout them for just 66.The second team win once again by 2 wickets chasing Easton & Martyr Worthy's 178 for 7.Phil Morris (47) and Neil Taylor (44) taking the side to 129 for 2 before a familiar collapse sees a tense last over victory thanks to Chris Vaughan (16) and Chris Gates' (12) cool head.The 3rds,4ths and 5ths all win to complete another Super Saturday and we would still like someone to contribute to this page for these sides (Ed).

The first team continue their poor start with a two wicket defeat at home to Hursley Park.Max Waller (37), Paul Cass (30),Andy Sexton (29) and Neil Thurgood (25) all make useful contributions in a total of 203 but Jimmy Taylor (69no) continued his liking for the BCG wicket to see his side home.The 2nd team's unbeaten start comes to an abrupt end with a comprehensive 106 run defeat at Hambledon.Set 206 to win they are shot out for just 99 with only Phil Morris (42) making a fist of the difficult batting surface.

The first team are resoundingly thrashed by an impressive Havant side who amass 285 with Andy Sexton ,in a rare long spell, taking 3 for 38 and Kevin Nash 3 for 54.The batting collapses once again and they are shot out for a paltry 88.The second team win again at home to Tichborne Park,dismissing the visitors for 153 (Ben Nolan-Stone 4 for 40).Phil Morris (27) and Nolan-Stone (34) again lay the foundations for Shaun Lilley (30no) to secure victory by two wickets.The 3rd and 5th teams win but the 4th's are beaten.The club progress to the next round of the National Club KO with an excellent victory at Ventnor.A large travelling contingent saw Max Waller,Andy Neal and Jake Lilley all take two wickets backed up by a fine display of wicket keeping by Jon Childs who took three catches and two stumpings.Neil Thurgood (30) and Neal (29) contributed but it was a superb 81 from Chris Jones which held the innings together as Bashley cruised home by 5 wickets with 8 overs to spare.

The firsts play much better but lose by one wicket off the last ball to the Academy.Glyn Treagus,making a welcome appearance,scores 49 and Andy Sexton continues his good early season form with a well crafted 52 out of 196.Kevin Nash (3 for 28) and Max Waller (3 for 27) take the bowling honours in a tidy allround performance. The 2nd XI win again at Paultons with Gavin Bailiff,in his first SEPCL bowling stint,taking 5 for 21 including a hat trick all caught by Jon Childs.Calum Maher (25) and Childs (41) do the spadework for skipper Shaun Lilley(51) to see the side home to a two wicket win with an over to spare.The 3rds,4ths and 5ths all won....it would be good if someone could take responsibility for entering details of these teams' games on the website (Ed).

The season starts with a poor batting performance from the 1st team who are bowled out for just 74 at South Wilts (Andy Sexton 26) having earlier dismissed the home side for 139 (Neil Taylor 3 for 21).Lack of match practice and application attributable to most of the wickets on both sides.On the plus side the bowling and fielding was generally up to scratch.
