The annual team golf day (the 19th) took place at Barton on Sea last Friday. With fair weather, and only a gentle Barton breeze, conditions were set fair for some decent scoring. A record twenty six teams of four set out to play all twenty seven holes of the cliff top course. The first team out (The NFDC Connections) set a target of 130 points and then retired to the bar and waited to be overtaken. With lots of muttering about the “the breeze getting up”, “the temperature dropping” etc team after team finished but no one bettered the NFDC team. So congratulations to Geoff Bettle, Steve Cranston, Steve Rayment and Alan Pinkney.
The Three Bs, including Matt King and John Marsh, got closest and The Green Caps (aka Hythe & Dibden CC) finished third.
Geoff topped off a good day by being “nearest the pin” on the Becton 8 but was bettered by Russell Clayton, from the The Unlikely Lads who was “nearest the pin” on Stroller 3 and then had a Hole in One on Needles 9. Sadly for him, despite sponsorship from Everton Hyundai Garage, there was no car on offer !!
A good day was had by all, with much needed funds raised for the club, and everyone looking forward to the 20th event next year.
