Bashley (Rydal) 5  312 – 6 v Ferndown Wayfarers 3  111 – ao
Bashley batted first, at Dolmans Farm, on Sat against a young Ferndown side and lost a wicket in the first over as Julian Hood was caught at slip.  As the innings progressed he considered himself more and more unlucky as the dropped catch count went into double figures by the end of the innings.  Debutant Pete Stallwood launched his innings with a 6 and a 4 but was bowled for 17, attempting another big shot.  James Walker joined Dan Hart and looked set for a big score until he received a ball that bounced more than expected and he fell for a promising 33 with the score on 75 after only 12 overs.  This bought 13 year old Oakley Sparshott-Thompson to the crease to join 15 year old Hart and they proceeded to put on 122 for the 4th wicket.  Eventually Sparshott-Thompson was caught one short of his fifty, although he was dropped 6 or 7 times !  Hart also benefitted from being dropped as he moved steadily towards his hundred, supported by Martin Haywood-Cox (25).  Both were out in consecutive balls with Hart falling for 119.  Ferndown’s misery was then compounded by Pete Wedge who took just 15 balls to reach 42 not out as Bashley closed on 312 for 6.
In reply Ferndown got off to a bad start as Will Logsden took a wicket in each of his first two overs and wickets fell regularly from then on.  The only real resistance came from young Harry Long who batted with great maturity before being last man out for 46.  Bashley held all their chances and fielded very tidily with the wicket takers being Logsden 4 – 29, Chloe-Ann Anderson 3 – 25, Stalwood 2 – 3 and Sparshott-Thompson 1 – 26.
