Bashley 3rds travelled to Hamble to play Follands 1st team and on winning the toss, elected to bat first.

Luke Stubbington and Ryan Taylor made a brisk start but when Taylor (21) was caught and Stubbington (18) bowled soon after, Bashley were 48 for 2. Graham Pardey (40) and Arno Hattingh (54) were watchful at first but they batted well and gradually took control to build a crucial 107run partnership. When they were both dismissed in the 32nd over, Bashley were well placed at 155 for 4. Late order cameos from Michael O’Sullivan (26) Sam Scott (23) and Sam Kennett (24) ensured that Bashley finished with a substantial 249 for 6 after their 45 overs.

After tea, Tom Harris (2 for 31) made a couple of early breakthroughs to reduce Follands to 23 for 2 after 8 overs. Further progress was then halted as Sathe and Richards staged a big recovery with a century partnership to bring Follands back into the game at 123 for 2 after 25 overs.

Scott (2 for 39) eventually had Sathe (56) caught behind by stand in wicket keeper Hattingh. This was his second catch of a very tidy display behind the stumps. Kennett (2 for 24) bowled Richards for 52 soon afterwards and with this double setback the Folland’s innings slowly subsided. Further wickets for Toby Mills (1 for 41) and Michael O’Sullivan (1 for 6) ensured that there was no recovery. Follands eventually finished on 207 for 8 after their 45 overs to leave Bashley the winners of a closely fought contest by 42 runs.
