Bashley (Rydal) returned to winning ways with an emphatic 108 run victory over local rivals New Milton at Fernhill Sports ground. After winning the toss Bashley captain Michael Porter decided to bat first but without a run scored they lost their first wicket when Dan Andrew was bowled by George Watts who finished with 3-26 off 7.2 overs but fellow opener Josh Digby dug in and with Tim Taylor had a 38 run partnership which ended when Taylor (14) was caught by wicketkeeper Tom Arnold to become Watts’s second wicket. Bashley then lost 2 wickets for 9 runs with both M. Porter and P. Morris scoring 5 runs each and both falling lbw to Lee Beck (2-34). This brought Tom Jacques to the crease and with quick running coupled with some stylish shots both Digby and Jacques reached  their fifties with Jacques (50 off 45 balls) and Digby (51) being the next two batsmen out with the scores on 138 and 142 respectively. After this only Patrick
Holly (17 n.o.) reached double figures and the Bashley innings closed on 178 aided by 26 extras.

Josh Digby – 51 runs

Tom Jacques – 50 runs

The New Milton reply also got off to a poor start with Toby Edwards falling lbw to Bradley Currie (3-9 from 7 overs) for a duck with 5 on the scoreboard and when both J. Haggaty (4) and T. Arnold (11) were dismissed with the total on 17 New Milton were in trouble from which they never recovered as Dan Goodey (5-28) and B. Currie ripped through the batting order aided by 2 wickets for T. Taylor with Lee Beck being New Milton’s highest scorer with 29 as they were bowled out for 70 after 25.1 overs.

Dan Goodey – 5 wickets
