We had a successful first quiz night of the year on Saturday with over 30 "brains" testing their memory of the events of 2011. Team Morris/Vaughan were the night's "Eggheads" and Georgie Pardey won the BIG LOTTO draw of £1000. After a "lifetime" of making teas and supporting the club you couldn't find a more deserving winner. Watch the Home page for details of the next Quiz night.
Fitness training starts on Mon 16th at Ballard, see Home page for details.

At the recent AGM Richard Morris and John Marsh were confirmed as captains for the 1st and 3rd teams, respectively, for 2012, replacing Andy Neal and Graham Pardey who are standing down. Simon Dean, Luke Stubbington and Steve Ransom continue as 2nd, 4th & 5th team capts respectively.
After all the furore about our "village" neighbours in Lymington it is confirmed that the 3rds will carry on playing at Pennington after drainage work is finished at Woodside.
A record year for fund raising and for spending !! Full minutes from the AGM available, just email the Secretary.

As part of our commitment to providing cricket opportunities for all in the community we are now affiliated with Brockenhurst College’s new Cricket Academy. The Academy currently has 16 students who receive personal coaching one morning a week as well as working on their fitness, technical and tactical skills. The programme sits alongside the student’s academic timetable and will include regular competition against other colleges and clubs.
The College will use the BCG facilities for their home games and outdoor practice in the Summer term. Paul Andrews (from the College), who is an experienced ECB Club Coach , will be running our U15 coaching during the Summer.
Jonny Bettle, James Rapson and Hameed Kyoghani are all part of the initial intake to the Academy so if you are interested in Brock as a 6th Form College then talk to these guys about the Academy.

The first team game at Alton is cancelled due to an unfit pitch thus securing first division status for next season. The seconds are still clinging on to Southern League status as they beat an understrength Liphook side by 7 wickets at the BCG.Chasing 205 to win 50 year old debutant Steve Ransom (48) and Jack Waller (38) provide a solid start which Neil Taylor (41no) and skipper Simon Dean (37no) build on to leave them needing to win at Calmore on the last day of the season and hope other results go their way.

The first team produce another poor batting peformance against champions elect Havant at the BCG.Only Richard Morris with 75 shows any sort of form in a total of 134 before the visitors win by 8 wickets. The second team slide ever nearer the relegation trap door losing by 74 runs at Fawley.Dave Morris (3 for 28) helps restrict the home side to 220 but it proves too many as only Jack Waller and John Childs, both with 26,pass 25 in a total of 146.

The firsts lose with another disappointing batting performance at Totton & Eling with only Richard Morris (56 no) making any significant contribution in a total of 117 all out chasing 150 (Jake Lilley 3-49,Jamie Miller 3-22). The
second team secure their second win of the season at home to Havant II.A tidy all round bowling and fielding performance sees the visitors dismissed for 104 (Jack Waller 3 for 23) before Paul Conway (28) and Matt King (20) secure a 5 wicket win.

5 for 61 and Jamie MIller 4 for 29.Miller then top scores with 40 before Shaun Lilley (26no) and Dan Friedman
(25no) see the side to victory and relieve immediate threat of the drop. The second team however lose again and go bottom following another poor batting performance against Trojans.Only stand-in skipper Chris Gates passes 20 in a lowly total of 112.James Rapson (3 for 19) causes a few wobbles in the visitors reply but they eventually sneak home by 3 wickets.

The firsts lose a vital toss and Lymington debutant Matt Mixer bowls superbly to take 9 for 32 as the home side are shot out for just 121 on a damp BCG surface. Only Matt King (26no) and Shaun Lilley (21) pass 20. Kevin Nash (3 for 30) tries manfully but is unable to prevent a damaging 5 wicket defeat to fellow relegation prospects. The second team lose at Tichborne Park with home side restricted to 185 (Simon Dean 3 for 40) but this proves too many for a weakened side due to first team calls as they are shot out for just 94 with Paul Conway top scoring with 31.

The firsts get a tousing at home to Bournemouth thanks to a poor batting display as they can only muster 143 with only Richard Morris (51) and debutant Hampshire Academy star Jamie Miller (33) making any significant contributions. The visitors knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket to see the previous league leaders slip to third from bottom in just 4 weeks. The seconds lose by just 8 runs in a reduced chase at Fair Oak.Steady bowling all round sees the hosts dismissed for 210.Chasing an incorrectly (under!) revised total of 202 Phil Morris (40) and Neil Taylor (66) get them close but not close enough as they close on 194 all out.
On Sunday a good crowd sees Richard Morris crack a superb 81 and Dan Friedman chip in with 45 in a total of 210 for 5 in the SEC T20 quarter final at home to last year's final opponents Hook & Newnham. The visitors start brightly but soon fade against tight bowling from Morris (3 for33) and Andy Neal (3 for 30) and eventually close on 166 for 8 to set up a home semi-final next week against Bournemouth.

The first team suffer a heavy defeat at the Rosebowl where the Academy rack up a massive 365 for 6 with Jake Lilley taking 5 for 78. Nick Baker makes a patient 90 but lacks support apart from Andy Neal's 27 as they are
dismissed for 197.Relief at last for the second team as they win for the first time this season with a tense 3
wicket win at home to Easton & MW.Tom Blackley takes the bowling honours with 3 for 31 as the visitors slump

The first team lose 7 wickets for just 10 runs to lose a low scoring encounter at Bemerton. Andy Neal (4 for 7) and Kevin Nash (3 for 27) help dismiss the home side for 134. Neil Thurgood's 50 steers the visitors into a strong position but Hampshire's Jimmy Tomlinson is too good for the lower order as they are dismissed for just 123.
The second team lose again with another poor batting display after dismissing South Wilts II for 162 with only number 11 Matt King (32 no) making a significant contribution in a total of 127 all out.

All Saturday games are rained off but the club travels to Havant Park on Sunday in the National KO area semi- final but probably wish they hadn't bothered as they are shot out for a paltry 49 on a rain affected wicket.Ross Grierson (12) and extras (19) are to scorers before the home side win by 8 wickets.

The firsts produce a below par performance and are unseated at the top of the league by Havant.Despite Richard Morris' imposing 97 and Neil Thurgood's patient 62 they only post a modest 242 for 8 in 64 overs. Occasional
spinner Andy Sexton ( 3 for 73) then takes the only wickets to fall as the home side coast to victory. The second team take another beating by a strong Sarisbury side at the BCG.The visitors make good use of another belter of a strip by racking up 338 for 5.Paul Conway with a league best 83 and 16 year old James Underwood with a 27 ball 52 enable maximum batting points in an improved performance going in to some must-win games.

The first team maintain their place on top of the league with a comprehensive 131 run win over Totton & Eling. Andy Sexton with a boundary strewn 120 and Richard Morris with a classy 132 no cash in on another flat'un at the BCG together with Dan Friedman (41) and Nick Baker (30) to post a formidable 355 for 4 in 62 overs.Kevin Nash strikes two early blows including Hampshire's Benny Howell,Jake Lilley (3 for 49) rips out the middle order and Sexton (3 for 21) winkles out the tail in an impressive performance. The second team produce another poor batting display as only Paul Conway (27) copes with the Hursley attack to any effect in a paltry 105 all out.The home side knock off the runs in just 19 overs to leave them rooted to the bottom of the league.

The firsts return to winning ways against bottom placed Andover at the BCG.Once again Andy Sexton (46) and Neil Thurgood (42) provided a solid start but from 135 for 7 it needed an overdue 56 from Dan Friedman and a surprise unbeaten 41 from Kevin Nash to post 234.The visitors were never in the hunt and subsided to a paltry 118 all out (Andy Neal 3 for 12).The seconds lose again at Sparsholt despite a fightback when facing a possible huge total with the home side at 150 for 1 in 20 overs.John Whiting (4 for 50) and his apprentice Jonny Bettle (4 for 49) rip out the tail in total of 258.But only Ian Britton (24) makes a fist of the difficult batting conditions as they are dismissed for 141.

The first team disappointingly lose to local rivals Lymington by 4 wickets at the Sports Ground.Nick Baker (57), Neil Thurgood (41) and Shaun Lilley (36) are the main contributors in a total of 188 for 8. Kevin Nash with 4 for 24 makes early inroads but can't remove Darren Cowley before he clubs a typically beligerent 84 to secure a win.
The seconds lose again due to a woeful start at home to OT's & Romsey , the top order undone by some decent swing bowling and some poor shot selection at 16 for 5.Neil Taylor (31) supported skipper Simon Dean who made a valiant league best 70 and together with a circumspect Neil Prince (28) took the score to 173 at the close. However a poor bowling performance saw the visitors coast to a 7 wicket win with 20 overs to spare.
Better news on Sunday as the club progresses to the regional semi-final of the National Cup with a thumping win at home to Harrow Town.Having lost Andy Sexton to the first ball of the match Neil Thurgood and Nick Baker then add a club and competition record 348 for the second wicket with both players making 161.The visitors are then bowled out for 228 in reply (Baker 4 for 40).

The first team begin the 2011 campaign with an emphatic 63 run win at home to Hampshire Academy.Andy Sexton (58) gets the innings off to a flying start together with Neil Thurgood (28) before a mid order collapse requires Ross Grierson (20) and 35 extras to boost the innings to 205.Veteran seamer Kevin Nash (5 for 28) and his young apprentice Jake Lilley (2 for 29) reduce the visitors to 46 for 5 and an eventual 142 all out.
