The first team's dreams of winning the title are shattered by a thumping 9 wicket defeat at home to champions elect B.A.T. Only Neil Taylor (53) and Neil Thurgood (28) make a fist of batting as Bashley post a dismal 163 before tea.Their disappointment is put in perspective by the sad news of the death of captain Andy Sexton's father Brian during the game. Despite hearing the news during his innings Neil Sexton (42) battles on bravely but is unable to prevent a one run loss for the second team at Bournemouth chasing 183 with Ross Grierson making another all round contribution with 33 and 3 for 29. The 3rd team secure fourth place with another convincing win at Lymington, Neil Prince (72 off 36 balls) ,Ed Richmond (54) and John Childs (52) the main run scorers and Bob Paul (5 for 27) taking 16 wickets in August. A very young fourth team finish with a defeat at home to Milford despite Richard King (54) and Andrew Argyle (31) helping to post 175 in reply to the visitors 235 (Mark Figging 5 for 60).

The 1sts win a fabulous game at BAT. After setting BAT a target of 295 in 56 overs they bowled them out nine runs short with still 3 overs left. With Matt King suffering with a back injury Kevin Nash and Paul Cass "stepped up to the plate" with Kevin taking 4 top order wickets and Paul bowling out the tail. This was after "in form" pair Andy Sexton (96) and Neil Thurgood (75) had shared a 150 run partnership to set up the big total. Next week sees another top of the table clash as South Wilts visit the BCG. The 2nds went down to a disappointing 71 run defeat to high flying New Milton. Already missing three key players they were further hampered when opener John Ward edged a ball through his grill and suffered a broken nose. Neil Sexton and Callum Mayer repaired some of the damage but they still came up well short. The 3rds crushed Hyde by 10 wickets with youngsters Gavin Bailiff and Ed Richmond easily knocking off the 131 needed for victory. The 4ths came up short against Verwood as they lost the last 7 wickets for 28 in 10 overs. Defending 138 they made a fight of it before losing by 3 wickets in the 39th over. Will Gunnell bowling well with 3-25 in 10.

A second successive clean sweep as all four teams win again, things can only get worse! The 1sts score 289-5 against Alton thanks to 126 from Neil Thurgood and a perfectly paced 97 from skipper Andy Sexton. In reply Alton are skittled for 125 with Matt King claiming 5-62. WIth South Wilts pipping BAT we go top of the table with BAT to come next week. The 2nds conjure victory from the jaws of defeat at Hartley Wintney. Chasing Bashley's 268-6 (Richard Knowles 76 and Neil Taylor 64) HW were strolling it at 247-5 but good straight fast bowling by John Whiting see them lose 5 for 5 and finish on 252 all out. Performance of the day came at Mudeford where the 3rds managed only 150-9 on a difficult pitch, with Steve Latimore and Ed Richmond being the mainstays. Enter veteran seamer RWE Paul, and exit Mudeford, as he takes 9-30 being denied the full set by a close umpiring call. "it hit him on the back leg, just above the ankle, in front of all three so it must have been close" claims Paul. The 4ths cruise to a 49 run win against Pylewell 2nds with a total of 250-4 built around a skipper's innings of 137 not out by Richard King.
